Goals and Objectives of the Tournament

The tournament is held with the aim of developing and promoting the game of Go in the Republic of Tuva and the Siberian Federal District.

The objectives of the tournament are:

  • identifying the strongest players;
  • improving the level of sportsmanship;
  • preparing the athletic reserve;
  • updating player rankings.

Cultural Connections Through the Centuries

The territories of present-day Tuva were once part of Imperial China, where Go was highly popular.
The Russian traveler Felix Kon, in his book Expedition to Soyotia, mentions the popular Tuvan game “Mun-Mun,” which is identified with the Tibetan version of Go — Ming-Mang.

Open Workshops for Local Residents

The workshops will take place at the Palace of Youth, conducted by a team of experienced RFG instructors led by M. Podolyak. A mini-tournament will be organized for those who wish to participate.

A special feature of the workshops will be an interactive presentation of the game using a Go robot.
